OGTT GLUCOSE-METABOLISM CONTRL-SYSTEM MODEL FOR ASSESMENT OF ANTI-DIABETIC HERBAL DRUG THERAPY.

Metformin hydrochloride, works even in the case of absolute deficiency of insulin in alloxan and pancreatectomy diabetes of animals, by switching the system t anaerobic metabolism.  It uncouples oxidative phosphorylation, unfolds the cristae of mitochondria (enhancing cellular transport of glucose and antidiabetic medicine).   Fenugreek seed powder, if simultaneously administered, can relieve constipation, increase insulin receptor, reduces both blood glucose and cholesterol levels. 

One of the authors (Sara S. Dittakavi) of this paper was able to reduce the high dose (40+40units) of his insulin requirement per day to a moderate value (20+20 units), by this combinational drug-therapy over a period f four months (April 20 to August 21 of the year 2000), with diet and exercise kept nearly constant. Glycosylated hemoglobin level also fell down from 10.2% to 5.0% (arresting further deterioration of the organs of the body).

We have developed a Glucose-control model to simulate the glucose metabolism process during OGTT.
